Question: How do you start a dirt bike in the cold?
Answer: As far as starting a dirt bike cold, it depends on what kind of bike it is. Modern carbureted four strokes like to have fresh gas in the float bowl, which mean draining the carburetor and refilling before starting. Sometimes a whack of the throttle if the bike has an accelerator pump and full choke will help getting it fired. The important thing to remember on a four stroke is NO THROTTLE when trying to start.
For two strokes, I like to tip the bike over until fuel drips out of the carb vent tubes. If it doesn't start with the choke on after that, it may be flooded and require no choke and full throttle while kicking.
The reason bikes are harder to start when it's cold out is the air is more dense, thus leaning out your air fuel mixture. If the bike continues to bog after it is warmed up, you may want to look at adjusting your air/fuel mixture screw.
